Woven hot pad (trivet) and center piece with Bora figures
This chambira palm fiber hot pad (trivet) was designed by Bora artisan Dolores Flores from the village of Brillo Nuevo on the Ampiyacu River. It features white symbols from the Bora native culture set against a black background dyed with huitillo tree fruit or rifari tree leaves. This beautiful craft comes in two sizes that are great for hot pads, trivets or placemats.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
