Open Weave, Crocheted, Striped Double Strap Brown and Ivory Bags, made in the Peruvian Amazon
These boho style double strap bags were crocheted by artisans native to the Peruvian Amazon, with natural and durable chambira palm fiber. They are useful for carrying a laptop to a coffee shop, shopping in a outdoor market or toting your towel, childrens' beach toys, or good book and suntan lotion to the beach. The open weave pattern features a blend of brown and natural ivory tone chambira, and a roomy, round shape with a more densely crocheted circle at the base of the bag.
The Extra Large bag measures 17" wide, by 10" high with a 10" diameter bottom with two 1.5" by 24" handles. The Large bag measures 12" high by 14" wide, with a base 9" in diameter, with 1.5" by 22" straps. Crocheted by artisans from the Puca Urquillo Bora artisan community in the Ampiyacu region.
A tag lists the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it. Please note that each handmade bag may vary from the photo shown.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
