These unique maracas are made from calabash tree pods (gourds) by Bora native artisan from the Peruvian Amazon.  This is the perfect rattle to keep the beat in your band, join a drum circle, or give children an immediate way to make their own music.

These patterns feature the traditional geometric figures.  They are filled with dry achira seeds from forest gardens to give it a crisp natural sound.  The handle is made from sturdy pona palm.  Keep in mind that these special instruments are hand-made from natural materials from the forest so each rattle has its own pattern, shape, and sound.

The calabash pods in the maracas come in four typical sizes: Extra-small (2 1/4" x 3"), Small (3" x 3 1/4"), Medium (3 1/2" x 4"), Large (3 1/2 x 5"). Most handles are 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 inches long.
