Peaches and Cream Handwoven Decorative Basket - Fair Trade and Hand Made by Peruvian Amazon Artisan

Sale price$40.00

The lovely colors of a summer ripe peach make this beautiful basket a keeper. Hang it on your wall or put it on a table as a stunning centerpiece. Combined with some other baskets, it will make a beautiful gallery wall.

This basket was handwoven from Chambira palm fibers, which is a wonderful alternative to using up the precious of the Amazon rainforest. Some plant dyes are used to color the fibers of our fair trade baskets and seeds and legumes are used to adorn the edges of many of our baskets.

The sale of these baskets supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. This basket was made by a campesino artisan from the association Manos Amazonicas (Amazon Hands) in the village of Chino on the Tahuayo River.

Each basket comes with a tag listing the name and village of the artisan who made it. These baskets were handmade by different artisans so the exact design may vary from the photo shown for this model.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
