Abalone and spondylus necklace from the Peruvian Amazon
This elegant boho-style necklace features a large tear drop shaped pendant of red spondylus shell with a border of abalone pieces mounted on a backing of black cow horn. The cord is a corkscrew style of black beads with a button clasp. The necklace was made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
