Andean condor Ceramic water whistle from the Peruvian Amazon

Sale price$12.00

Blow into this fun little ceramic whistle and you get one sound - add some water and blow again to get a fun trill that sounds just like a bird!  This model is a quirky version of the Andean condor - one of the largest birds in the sky over Peru.  Some of these birds also helped save its northern cousin California condor from extinction by a sophisticated cross-breeding program.

Each little flute has a hole that can be left uncovered or covered with your finger to vary the pitch of the whistle.  It has one extra loop with a thin chord that will allow you to wear your whistle with you anywhere.

Please note that these hand painted crafts may vary slightly from the photo shown for this model.  The color of the heads of these models may be light orange or light purple.

Made by local artisans from the city of Iquitos in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.

& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
