FAIR -TRADE HAND-MADE WIDE GUITAR STRAP - CORAL SNAKE PATTERN - WOVEN BY PERUVIAN AMAZON ARTISAN
This unique fair-trade Amazon Guitar Strap was hand-made by a native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon. This sturdy three-inch wide strap is woven from chambira palm fiber attached to a quality brass-plated harness buckle so its length can be adjusted from 47 to 59 inches. It is strong and comfortable way to wear a bass or heavy electric guitar. Both ends are tightly sewn to a black leather tab that snugly fits over a standard guitar strap button. This is a perfect strap for musicians who want to show their appreciation and support for native culture and the environment. This model was designed by Bora artisans to represent the colorful horizontal striped patterns of coral snakes found throughout the Amazon rainforest. Each strap comes with a tag listing the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it.
Please note that the only extra-wide strap we have in stock now is the red, black and white coral snake model whose color has somewhat faded (due to prolonged exposure to the sun while displayed at music festivals) compared to the colors of the new model shown in this photo.
Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
