This unique fair-trade Amazon Mandolin or Banjo Strap was hand-made by a native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon. This strap is sturdy, comfortable and flexible. It is woven from one-inch wide chambira palm fiber attached to a quality brass-plated buckle so its length can be adjusted from 39 to 46 inches to fit the musician's style and height. Both ends are tightly sewn to a black leather tab that could be adapted to attach it to a mandolin or banjo. This is a perfect strap for musicians who want to show their appreciation and support for native culture and the environment. The Boa model is based on a traditional pattern of the Bora natives to represent this iconic Amazonian snake. Each strap comes with a tag listing the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it.

& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
