Handmade Chambira Shoulder Bag from Peru with black, yellow and maroon stripes

These elegant shoulder bags made were handmade by a Huitoto native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon with sturdy chambira palm fiber.  Each bag has a unique design of black, yellow and/or maroon stripes made with natural plant dyes.

Take your laptop to a coffee shop, shop in a outdoor market or tote your towel, good book and suntan lotion to the beach in these lightweight, easy to wear, multipurpose bags.  Each bag was made with a tight knot weave and measures about 12 x 11 inches with a comfortably long shoulder strap.

A tag lists the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it. Please note that each handmade bag may vary from the photo shown.
