Huayruru, achira and choloke seed necklace
This boho-style necklace features a strand of three types of classic Amazon seeds - the small black seed from the achira (canna) lilly, the natural two-tone seed from the huayruru bean tree, and the round solid black seed from the choloke palm. Throughout the Amazon the huayruru seed is considered to bring the bearer good luck, but it is important to remember it is not edible.
These earrings are made by traditional artisans from the town of Jenaro Herrera on the Ucayali River in cooperation with the Center for Amazon Community Ecologrt

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
