Hummingbird Bird Calabash Christmas tree ornament

These unique Christmas tree ornaments are made from calabash tree pods by native artisans from the Ampiyacu River region of the Peruvian Amazon.  This ornament features the figure of a hummingbird - one of many small varieties known for darting around to use its curved beak to feed on the nectar from colorful flowers in the Amazon and many parts of the world. This makes hummingbirds one of the best known pollinators of plants with tubular flowers.

This ornament has a chambira palm fiber chord allows it to be hung from a Christmas tree.  The beads inside also make it a great rattle that fits in the palm of your hand.
