Nakar Shell Earrings, various colors
The original material of these earrings is the nakar shell from the ocean, but they were turned into their final form in the distant Amazon. They have been dyed into a variety of beautiful pastel colors.
The medium pieces (1" x 5/8") and narrow pieces (1"x 3/8") have a pair of rough white and matching colored beads. The large pair is 1.5" x 1.25".
These earrings are made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years. The French hooks are made with non-allergenic material.
Please remember that these handmade crafts may vary from the photos shown.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
