Silver Wire Lattice with Huayruru Beads and Lapis Lazuli, Dangling Earrings

Sale price$15.00

These elegant earrings feature a delicate silver wire lattice design, dangling huayruru beads, and lapis lazuli pendants. Huayruru beads are naturally two-tone black and deep orange seeds from a distinctive group of tropical trees in the bean family.  Throughout the Amazon they considered to bring the bearer good luck, but it is important to remember that they are not edible.  Different closely related huayruru species (Ormosia spp.) have small, medium or large size seeds.

These earrings are made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years.  The French hooks are made with non-allergenic material.

Please remember that these handmade crafts may vary from the photos shown.

Support native artisans
& rainforest in the Amazon

Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
