Woven hot pad (trivet) and center piece with red and black bands
This stunning design of a hot pad and center piece was designed by Bora artisan Ania Ruiz from the village of Brillo Nuevo on the Ampiyacu River. It features alternating black and maroon bands made with natural plant dyes set throughout rings of natural off-white chambira palm fiber. This pattern was inspired by the design of a local coral snake. Each craft is hand-made so there will be slight variations between each craft and the photo of the model.
This craft comes in two sizes that could both be beautiful hot pads, trivets or placemats.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
