This is Yermeth Torres - an artisan from the campesino village of Chino on the Tahuayo River in the northern Peruvian Amazon. She is one of the talented artisans who weaves chambira palm fiber into beautiful decorative baskets colored with natural plant dyes. Buying these baskets helps provide a source of sustainable income for artisan families like Yermeth. CACE social rebates from craft sales have helped build a new bathroom for the school, buy medicines, support chambira reforestation and finish construction of the artisan cooperative building.
