These unique Christmas tree ornaments are made from calabash tree pods by native artisans from the Ampiyacu River region of the Peruvian Amazon. This ornament features the figure of a leaf-cutter ant - the amazing ant which cuts bits of leaves and carries them to their nest to cultivate a fungus which provides their most important food.
