BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD FAIR TRADE BIRD ORNAMENT - WOVEN BY PERUVIAN AMAZON ARTISAN
Available in stock (21)
The black-chinned hummingbird has a stunning purple colored gorget (throat feathers). It is found in many parts of the western United States and southwestern Canada in the summer and then migrates as far south as Mexico to maintain its access to nectar from flowers and insects. It will look great hanging on your Christmas tree, rear-view mirror or adding a colorful touch to another part of your home.
This ornament was woven with chambira palm fiber by a native Amazon artisan. The sale of these ornaments supports forest conservation and helps meet local needs in traditional communities in Peru. These bird ornaments were made artisans from all four river watersheds where we work.
Each ornament comes with a tag listing the name and home of the artisan who made it and the plants used to make it. Please remember that each ornament is hand-made so the exact design may vary from the photo of this model.
This bird is a new addition to our collection of North American birds so supplies are limited during this introductory period. A few of the first practice models are also available that have a brighter shade of green on the head than the standard version whose color more accurately represents this species.
