Earth tone striped Chambira Shoulder Bag with natural clasp - made in Peruvian Amazon
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
These durable shoulder bags were hand-crocheted by a Huitoto native artisan from the Ampiyacu region of the Peruvian Amazon with chambira palm fiber. They each have elegant earth-tone stripes made with natural plant dyes. Take your laptop to a coffee shop, shop in a outdoor market or tote your towel, good book and suntan lotion to the beach in these lightweight, easy to wear, roomy, multipurpose bags. The bags are 12 x 10 inches with a simple clasp in the middle to close the top and a 42" long strap.
The chambira is dyed maroon with the leaves of the puca panga (Arrabidea spp.) vine; the mustard yellow comes from the root of the guisador (Ginger family) plant; the black comes from the fruit rind of the huitillo tree (Rubiaceae family).
A tag lists the artisan's name and community and the plants they used to make it. Please note that each handmade bag may vary from the photo shown.
