Huayruru seed and dangle earrings - made by Peruvian Amazon artisan
These simple boho-style earrings feature one large huayruru seed with a small seed above and dangles below. The natural two-tone huayruru seeds from this distinctive group of tropical trees in the bean family are reddish-orange with a distinctive black patch. Throughout the Amazon they are considered to bring the bearer good luck, but it is important to remember that they are not edible.
These earrings are made by an expert artisan from Iquitos who has worked with the Center for Amazon Community Ecology for ten years. The French hooks are made with non-allergenic material.
Please remember that these handmade crafts may vary from the photos shown.

Support native artisans & rainforest in the Amazon
Amazon forest loss is driving species to extinction, aggravating global warming, and robbing people of unique medicines, foods and other benefits. Cutting and burning forests is often more profitable than conserving them, so some native communities in northern Peru have illegally logged and grown coca and other cash-crops to escape poverty.
